Are you ready?

Written by Alfred Ofori Agyemang.

"But who can discern their own errors? Forgive my hidden faults. Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then I will be blameless, innocent of great transgression." (NIV) Psalm 19:12-13

Every human endeavor is expected to produce profit or bring improvement to what is already existing. Parents want their children to grow well, establish themselves and reproduce. Students want to learn to become the best in their fields of study by producing excellent results. Workers want to deliver to the expectations of their employers to gain promotion or tenure. Employers plan, recruit staff and put measures in place to ensure productivity and expansion of their businesses.

Similarly, Christians are expected by God to mature and bear fruits of high-quality life. As workers of the Almighty God, we are expected to be productive in his company (Church) and create more branches for Him (discipleship - Matthew 28:19). To help us to reach our highest potential, God prunes us by cutting away unfruitful characters in us.

Are you willing and ready for the pruning or disciplines of the LORD? How committed are you to the instructions of the Creator? Is there anything in your life not productive for God to prune? We should be glad when God prunes us because we will yield more fruits (Gal. 5:22).

The pruning of the Lord is done with His words (John 15:3). The pruning nature of God reminds us not to rely on past glories but keep on examining ourselves and strive for continuous productivity. Therefore, let's disassociate ourselves from sin and unproductive distractions of life and be ready for the Lord’s pruning. Amen
