What action is your faith manifesting?

Written by Dede Abebreser Tsonyake.

“In the same way, faith by itself, if not accompanied by action, is dead.” (NIV) James 2:17

Which one is easy? To go about telling everyone you see that you are a Christian or to just be a Christian through what you do or say so people can ask you what makes you different from the rest? Your answer will definitely be the latter. A very good friend of mine was awarded the best worker in the company he worked in. He said after the award ceremony, the CEO asked him why he works so hard for a company that does not belong to him. He said he told him, “my bible teaches me that, whatever I find myself doing, I should do it as if I am doing unto the Lord”. He said the CEO looked at him and said, “I don’t believe in God but this teaching is a good one, keep it up!” This is an example of what I call faith with works! This friend made the CEO know that he is a Christian through his hard work and got him to accept one teaching in the bible. Who knows, this could make this CEO read the bible one day in curiosity and God can use that encounter to make the CEO rethink his decision of not believing in God. What action is your faith manifesting?

In my workplace, I am tagged as the one who does not know how the government sector works because I am questioning all activities I deem not right. Many times, I am actually prevented from dealings I will raise eyebrows about. I am not bothered at all because though they make a mockery of me in my presence, I know deep in their hearts, they respect my stance and though I cannot get them to join me, I know I am adding action to my faith.

There are so many ways we can but action to our faith. There are so many among us that are hungry, sick and homeless. They are among us for a reason to give us the opportunity to show compassion through giving as the manifestations of our faith. Let’s make it a point to put actions to your faith every day of your lives so that our actions will speak to others what our faith is. God bless you.
