Continue in them

Written by Derrick Owusu Antwi.

“Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.” (NKJV) I Timothy 4:16.

In his letter to Timothy, Paul exhorts him to be watchful of his conduct and also the teachings of the Christian faith, since some would fall away from the true faith.

There have been myriad of false teachings and beliefs in recent times with regards to religion. Christianity has not been spared of such, but we are admonished to uphold the faith and keep growing in the true teachings.

God’s word is like a food that strengthens the soul (I Timothy 4:6). Therefore, we should keep feeding on His word so as not to be distracted by unapproved stories or false beliefs which is alien to the doctrine of Christ.

Often in trying or difficult times, our faith is shaken. This is the moment we get exposed to numerous false teachings that seem to portray godliness and/or relief in some way. We should not be disheartened and drifted away by such, rather we should always know that God has good plans for us, and He would not leave nor forsake us (Hebrews 6:10) even in our hard times.

Beloved, let us continue to stand firm, keep our hope in Christ alive so that we do not fall prey to false teachings which could cost our salvation a great deal.

May God help us to continue to grow and be mindful in our endeavours against pseudo teachings of our time.
