Be on the watch!

Written by Christopher Opey Tetteh.

“For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve.” (NIV) 2 Corinthians 11:13-15

“Only let us live up to what we have already attained.” (NIV) Philippians 3:16

Many years have passed since Christ established his Church and Christianity (Acts 2:1-47). And those of us who have accepted this faith still await the second coming of Our Lord Jesus Christ. But as we do wait, we must not feel tired, weak, deceived, or let go of this trustworthy faith which we profess, for his coming will be like a thief in the night (2 Peter 3:10).

Undoubtedly, false teachers have risen both in and out of the Church and their mission is to deceive and proclaim falsehood as they make disciples of their kind. The Bible, however, assures us that nothing shall separate us from our Lord. (Romans 8:35-37). Nothing surely will separate us from our God, not even false teachers!

Paul warned us in 2 Timothy 4:3-4 to stay on guard against false teachers. It is worth noting that Satan is envious of us for having the opportunity to become sons of God through Christ. So, he works daily with his agents for our downfall, so we perish with him together in hell. Therefore, let us stay awake and be vigilant. Let's be rooted and firmly grounded in the credible faith we have received since childhood (when we first became Christians). This is the only way to overcome such false teachers and their teachings. We will be lured if we don't continue in the doctrine of our Lord and have faith in his word.

May we not sleep, give up, fall, or be deceived but rather be strong in faith and in patience as we wait for our Lord's second coming!!!
