So that the Work of God might be displayed in your Life

“Neither this man nor his parents sinned, said Jesus, but this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life.” (NIV) John 9:3

John 9:1-12 tells of how Jesus healed a man born blind. Jesus met the man on his way, then His disciples asked Him if the man’s blindness was because the man or his parents sinned (those days, it was believed that bad things happen to sinners). The answer Jesus gave to His disciples is what I want us to be inspired by today. Jesus said, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life.”

Over the years, I have seen people go through so much physical and emotional pain and I have asked God the same question the disciples asked Jesus and pleaded with Him to forgive them and restore in them inner peace and joy by taking away the pain they are going through. Many of these prayers have not been answered the way I expected, then one day, it struck me that God wants His work displayed in these individuals’ lives.

God does not intentionally allow bad things to happen to His children but just like in the story of Job, Satan lives among us and eagerly looking for ways to make us fall away from the grace. So, he brings our way things that physically hurt us and shake our faith in our God. It is the defeating of the evil ways of the enemy through the miracle He performs in our lives that He is exalted, and others also get to see His marvellous works and come to know Him.

Never give up. Keep on waiting on the Lord and I know He will pass your way and He will surely notice you. Whatever you may be going through today, I pray that the work of God will be displayed in your life sooner than you expect so that all shall glorify His magnificent name, AMEN! God bless us all.
