Daniel’s Inspiration - Purpose

Written by Alfred Ofori Agyemang.

“Daniel always prayed to God three times every day. Three times every day, he bowed down on his knees to pray and praise God. Even though Daniel heard about the new law, he still went to his house to pray. He went up to the upper room of his house and opened the windows that faced toward Jerusalem. Then Daniel bowed down on his knees and prayed just as he always had done.” (NIV) Daniel 6:10

There are lots of scientific discoveries to help mankind understand nature and improve living conditions on earth. However, the principles of life are the same as the wise Preacher Solomon said in Eccl. 1:9 “there is nothing new under the sun”. Success and motivation in life can only be gotten from the manual of life, the Bible.

In the book of Daniel, we learn that Daniel had a purpose even as a foreigner in Babylon. Daniel's purpose was not to sin against his maker even in an uncomfortable environment. His life was driven by this purpose and God rewarded him because the purpose was in line with His Word.

Beloved, nothing in life can be achieved without a definite purpose. Your purpose will determine how you conduct yourself under all circumstances, how you respond to issues and your attitude towards God and fellow man. What is your purpose for this year and is it in line with God’s word?
