In 7 Calamities

Written by Douglas Agyapong.

From six calamities he will rescue you; in seven no harm will touch you. (NIV) Job 5:19

After some research on this Scripture, let me share with you what I have learned. In the Hebrew language, seven is a sign of completeness or perfection. By referring to seven, he implied that in the fullness of calamities, God would deliver. In their style of expression, he first refers to the number of troubles less than what he intends to emphasize- six. This is a way of highlighting the reliability of the latter. So then he emphasizes that when our issues attain perfection, the saving power of God becomes perfect as well. This is good news.

Dear reader, I encourage you in this new year and in the following: when you face a multitude of troubles, be assured that God will deliver you. Furthermore, at the peak frequency of troubles and in their highest severity, know that this same God will save you. You can be sure of this if nothing else and so be confident and engage life!
