God's vocabulary

Written by Alhassan Mohammed Sandargo.

“The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. Scripture does not say “and to seeds,” meaning many people, but “and to your seed,” meaning one person, who is Christ.” (NIV) Galatians 3:16

Bible reading: Deuteronomy 8

Words are so important, influential and powerful in all arena of life and scriptures are precise in the use of words. It is intriguing to know that the word “coincidence” is a rare word in scripture; not found anywhere in the Old Testament and used only once (Luke 10:31) in a parable in the New Testament.

When God speaks, it is no coincidence and He does not act by mere coincidence either. No wonder He made the worlds by His word (Hebrews 11:3). Both Moses and the Lord Jesus remind us to live our lives by every word of God (Deuteronomy 8:3, Matthew 4:4).

Circumstances of life may be hard to grasp sometimes and yet nothing is coincident about us in the ultimate plan of God for our lives. We can therefore safely state: God’s word is a lamp unto our feet and a light for our path. (Psalm 119:105)

May we see wonderful things in His word for our lives. (Psalm 119:18)
