Power of praise

Written by Alfred Ofori Agyemang.

“The LORD smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart: "Never again will I curse the ground because of humans, even though every inclination of the human heart is evil from childhood. And never again will I destroy all living creatures, as I have done. ” (NIV) Genesis 8:21

Praising God is one of the real secrets of life. Praising God means we acknowledge who He is and what He has done for us. It is a highest form of worship acceptable to God. The quality of our praise to God demonstrates our faith in God and the response we will obtain from God. Humanity fails to honour divinity mostly due to discontentment, comparism to others, envy of others, over expectations, greed and constant complains. Mankind will never be fully satisfied under the sun. If you are waiting for maximum satisfaction in life before you praise God, you can never appreciate God.

Noah after the flood took the clean animals and sacrificed them to God for appreciating the rescue God granted to him and his family. Note that Noah did not pick any animal but the clean ones from a clean heart. The quality of Noah’s praises to God elicited an unprecedented response for God; never again will I curse the ground for man’s sake. Though Noah may have his weaknesses, God accepted his aroma of praise and blessed him.

Noah lost so many things through the flood that came on earth. He may have lost family member, friends and property as a result of the flood. He still found a grateful heart to praise God through a sweet aroma from his sacrifice. You may have lost a lot of things this year and may be bitter at heart; you can still offer quality praise to God by unconditionally appreciating God. What about all the goodness we enjoyed this year?

What quality of praise are you offering to God? Noah’s praise elicited a response we are all benefiting now. You can do same. Give God the best of praise. Amen!
