“Don’t be misled – you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant” (NLT) Galatians 6:7
In the previous devotional piece (Antidotes to the Problem of Life (I)), we looked at the physical implication of the Principle of Seed Sowing and Harvesting. In this piece, we want to take a look at a more important perspective – the spiritual implication of the principle.
The scripture in Galatians 6:7 tells us a very important attribute of God – justice. The justice of God implies that all mankind – both Christians and non-Christians will always harvest exactly what they plant. Granted, scripture is littered with goodies reserved for only the children of God but God will never tilt the scale of justice in our favour (Proverbs 11:1). Unmerited favour from God to his children does not mean if one sows to please the flesh, one can escape destruction and reap eternal life (Galatians 6:8). In the same vein, you cannot sow sparingly and expect that due to God’s unmerited favour you will reap bountifully (2 Corinthians 9:6).
What then should we do?
“I said, ‘Plant the good seeds of righteousness, and you will harvest a crop of love. Plow up the hard ground of your hearts, for now is the time to seek the LORD, that he may come and shower righteousness upon you’.” (NLT) Hosea 10:12
