"Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness."(NKJV) Lamentation 3:22-23
At the end of every year, we hear people give testimonies about how God has seen them through the year and give Him thanks for it.
We sit back and say in our minds, “is this a testimony?” We want to hear about the miracle that made the lame walk, the blind see and the dead rise.
Nay, have you ever sat down to ask yourself if there is any law that states that when you sleep you should wakeup.
Let me share this simple story with you. One day, I was asked to lead praise and adoration. So in the preparation I wanted a short message to share. The only message that could come to me was let the people thank God for the day. I said, oh but that is normal. So I ignored it. I went to bed and had a dream. I saw myself in a church with people thanking God for seeing them through the year. Then as I had always done in my mind, I said, “are you the only people?” Give us better testimonies. I began experiencing a migraine. Then I heard a voice saying what if you woke up and this migraine became chronic. You have always woken up fit so you think it is a privilege. If you won’t thank me for seeing you through the night and taking you through the year, allow others to do that. I woke up and I asked for forgiveness right away.
Beloved, life may not be as you wanted. You may be going through lots of challenges. You may be on the verge of giving up. So you need a miracle to turn things around. Yes it is true. But there is still a lot to be thankful for. Just think about this. You slept like a dead person. You dreamt with your soul wandering. What if your soul never returned? There is someone Great who cares and His love will not let go so He keeps watching over us. To sleep and wake up is the greatest miracle you could ever have. It gives you the chance to make things right. It gives you the chance to fulfill your dreams. So, be thankful to God for a new day and for another year gone by.
