Hearing Aid

By: Jiloml

“So Eli told Samuel “Go and lie down, and if he calls you, say ‘speak, Lord for your servant is listening’” So Samuel went and lay down in his place."(NIV) 1 Samuel 3: 9

Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 3: 1-14

Have you ever wondered how wonderful it will feel to hear God’s voice? Or better still have you ever heard him speak to you? Would you love to hear him speak to you? I believe we all want to eagerly hear his voice. But do you know that he has been speaking? It is interesting how this wonderful God seeks the attention of His creation. God spoke to his people in time past and to this day He still speaks.

It’s up to us to incline our ears to listen to Him. The word of God tells us that in the past God spoke to our forefathers through the Prophets at many times and in various ways , but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir to all things and through whom he made the universe.( Hebrews 1:1-2)

This affirms the fact that He speaks to us today too. Effective Christians are those who hear the voice of God daily. I guess you may be wondering how! God is speaking to us through his Son Jesus Christ who in John 1, we are made to understand that, it is the WORD OF GOD. John 1: 1-3.

As we deliberately make a listening ear to God’s Word, meditate and pray daily, our souls are drawn to God and this sharpens and gives us a better hearing aid. In that way when God speaks to us through his word, we will understand his perfect will for us no matter the circumstances that we may find ourselves in.

Having a good hearing aid to listen to God when he speaks is an effective way to live as Christians. When we become like Samuel, giving more attention to the work of God and his Word then we become effective and productive. God’s word is our only hearing aid needed to hear God when he speaks.

God speaks all the time, let’s make time to develop our hearing with his Word.
