The Word of Life
“In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.” (NLT) John 1:1-5
Knowledge they say is power. People who have special knowledge in certain disciplines have influence in the lives of many others. They are usually referred to as “authorities” and what they say relating to their fields of study are held in high esteem. Unfortunately, none of such knowledge put in writing or presented orally have the power to preserve life and give life eternal. In fact, with time, advancement in knowledge and change is human endeavor presents some facts as null and void.
The good news is that God has given us His word which is timeless and eternal. The facts presented in them have been able to withstand the test of time. For instance, through the Holy Spirit, the early writers such as Job was able to tell that God stretches the heavens and hangs the earth on nothing (Job 26:7) before science made such discoveries. The Bible remains an authoritative source of the origins of man and more importantly, how man can have eternal life. Today, Jesus who is the Word presents himself through His word. Those who diligently seek him have life and they have it to the fullest (John 10:10). Beautiful are your Word of life.
