Time it well

Written by Alfred Ofori Agyemang.

“See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” (NKJV) Ephes. 5:15-16

Lack of respect for time as a resource, difficulties of modern life and the challenge to live more comfortable physical lives are pushing many people to use all their time to work to earn more income. It is a fact that money is the vehicle upon the world is moving and nothing happens without a cost. Because of that, all interest of humanity is now on how to secure more financial resources for a better life.

Some people have invested all their time to become very successful business owners, popular and prestigious in the corporate world but unfortunately as failures in Christianity, married couples and parents. All our resources are being invested to gain wealth to the detriment of our spiritual and family lives. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? (Matt 16:26). Of what use is your physical worth if you fail to manage your family and children?

Time is a limited resource given to us by God for us to manage and he takes it at his own time (Luke 12:20). Time can be wasted, redeemed, invested but cannot be suspended for anyone. How you spend your time is a reflection of who you are, your interest and priorities. Time can be seen as past, present and future. The past cannot be changed, the future time not guaranteed but we have today to decide what to do with our lives especially our salvation.

Learn from the past, maximize your time today and prepare for the future. Inappropriate use of our time will have dire consequences for us in our relationship with God and our family. Recognize the need to be time conscious, examine your use of time, prioritize your decisions and budget time appropriately.

Prioritize your time well with God on top, your family next and work as a means to end. Have time for yourself to rest and energize for the duties ahead. Remember, “All that is not eternal is eternally useless” – C.S. Lewis.
