Pencil for God

Written by Alfred Ofori Agyemang.

"For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them" (NKJV) Eph. 2:10

Let me share this wonderful piece I read from a sermon delivered years ago.

We are like pencils in the hands of God, our creator. When we come into Christ, we join His workforce. We avail ourselves to be used for His predetermined purposes (Col. 1:16). A pencil has no authority of its own. It does not write and make a mark by itself. It is controlled by the user. Similarly, Christians should allow themselves to be guided by God and His words.

Now put yourself in the pencil’s place. Always remember these five rules and never forget, and you will become the best person you can be.

(1) You will be able to do many great things, but only if you allow yourself to be held in God’s hand.

(2) You will experience a painful sharpening from time to time, by going through various problems, but you will need it to become a refined person for God.

(3) Your user (God) can correct any mistakes you make.

(4) The most important part of you will always be what is inside of you. God has placed valuable things in you.

(5) On every surface you walk through, you must leave your mark. No matter what the situation, you can continue to do your duties.

Let us submit ourselves to God our maker as he uses us to leave behind great marks for His purpose and glory.
