But for Love

"For God so loved the world that he gave His one and only son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."(NIV) John 3:16

I really do not like cooking and doing the laundry but for the love I have for my family, I cook and do the laundry wholeheartedly and regularly. Many of us can relate to this scenario. But for the love we have for our friends and family, we go out of our way to please them and we do that even at the expense of our comfort or in extreme cases, our lives.

Today, the reflective question is, but for the love, you have for God, what will you do or not do? God requires from us some things. He requires our faithfulness (1 Corinthians 4:2), obedience (Matthew 7:21), evangelism (Matthew 28:19-20), never forsake the assembly of the saints (Hebrews 10:25), to love one another (John 13:34) and He requires us to obey all He has thought us (John 14:15). If we profess to love God, can this love for Him get us to do His will at all times?

God so loved us that He actually sacrificed His only son through death so you and I can be free from sin and gain eternal life. This sacrifice is incomparable and all He requires in return is that we love Him and keep His commandments. Is this too much to ask?

Today, but for the love I have for God, I will choose to be faithful to Him, obey Him, make disciples for Him, always be part of the saints when they assemble, love others and follow His teachings and never adulterate it. What is your pledge today?

God bless you for your pledge to love Him.
