Be ready to give a defense

Written by Derrick Owusu Antwi.

"But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear; having a good conscience, that when they defame you as evildoers, those who revile your good conduct in Christ may be ashamed." (NKJV) I Peter 3:15-16

Considering the spike in different beliefs in religion lately, it calls for concern to us faithful Christians to make a special place for Christ in our hearts. That way we will be ready to confess Him even when we know that confession will bring us trouble.

By confession, it doesn't necessarily mean mentioning or cementing our faith by lips only; rather being prepared to explain amicably to other people, especially unbelievers / unfaithful Christians the reason for our belief in God and His son Jesus Christ.

In effect, we all should be cognizant of the second coming of Christ as our actions towards one another must be done in love. (I Peter 4:7-8).

May God help us to be ready always to give a defense to everyone who asks us a reason for our hope in Him. Amen.
