God knows what He is about

"He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.” (NIV) Ecclesiastes 3:11

Bible reading: Job 39

The encounter of Job with the Almighty led to some fascinating discourse that needs a pulse to ponder. In Job 39, God continues to draw Job’s attention to how limited man is, compared with the ever grandeur of God.

Purposefully, God chose the animal kingdom, both wild and domestic to teach Job and us some great truth. The Lord God mentions how the wild goat, for instance safely goes through delivery without any human help. Then He mentions the greatness and confidence possessed by the horse even in the face of terrifying battle. Also the ostrich, with no wisdom and having less common sense in many things, can run so fast as to put both a horse and its rider to complete shame. The Lord may not be always predictable regarding His workings: whom He chooses for a task, when he chooses to act or what he gives to whom. And yet, He knows what He is about.

Additionally, the Lord Jesus later taught how more important we are than the beasts though they too are gifted and cared for. “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?”(NIV, Matthew 6:26). We are made in the very image of God (Genesis 9:6) and are so precious in His sight. To the Psalmist, he could proclaim out of reverence; “what are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them?” (NLT, Psalm 8:4)

So, God knows what He is about, whether in creation generally or in His relationship and interactions with humans specifically. Therefore, we may as well be silent before our Maker to see wonderful things He has for us (NLT, Psalm 119:18). Indeed, He makes all things both beautiful and wonderful in their time. We can truly count on Him. God is able.
