The Excellent Way

Written by Alfred Ofori Agyemang.

“If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing ” (NIV) 1 Cor. 13:1-3

Humanity from time immemorial has been searching fruitlessly to enjoy a better life. Some focus on time thinking that is the solution while others place maximum attention on their work, marriage, entertainment and still do not get the desired results of satisfaction and happiness. The excellent way of getting things done under the sun for maximum results and satisfaction is only through love.

Many divine institutions like the family and the church are losing their effect on society because of the low level of love that is demonstrated. Christians can only transform the world and convert unbelievers to the Kingdom of God through the expression of genuine love. The church will grow and become fruitful when Christians allow themselves to be engulfed in the love of God that translates into our actions. “Love is the Circulatory System of the Church and if the arteries of love get clogged, the church is in danger of spiritual cardiac arrest” (M.N. Possey).

Love is the most important item the world needs, especially in these challenging times. The pre-eminence of love is a key message of God (1 Cor. 13). The world will know and believe in God if we show love and tell the truth of God in love to the world. The perfection of God is shown in love because love is a verb (1 Cor. 13:4-7). Love is of permanence nature because it will still remain after this world is more (1 Cor. 13:8-13).

Unconditional love is a language all people of the world understand whether with impairment or not. Let us all be willing to share the love we have received from the Lord God through Christ Jesus. We can be like Apostle Paul through the love we have for brethren by keeping others on our minds, in our hearts and our prayers (Phil. 1:3-11). That is the most excellent way of life.
