Sow seeds of giving and reap fruits of receipts

Written by Dede Abebreser Tsonyake.

“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” (NIV) Luke 6:38

The world says to become wealthy means you have to save enough but in Christ, the wealthy people are givers. Such a contrast! Reading Luke 6:38 over and over again puts a smile on my face. This verse makes giving so easy. The good news is that, when you give, it does not go unnoticed by our creator. The better news is that; He gives a greater reward than what we gave out. You may not receive back money because you gave money but whatever you will receive back is promised to be bigger and better than what you gave.

In recent times, some orphanages in Ghana are refusing used clothing because people donate clothes that are faded or thorn and just need places to damp them. This is so sad because with the measure we use in our giving, it will be measured to us. A principle I have always adopted in my giving, I have derived from Matthew 7:12, “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you.” This principle helps me ask the following questions, “Is what I am giving presentable?” and “Will I be happy if someone brought me a similar gift?” If the answer to both questions is “YES” then, find gladness in your heart because you will receive in over-flowing measure.

Galatians 6:9 admonishes us not to become weary in doing good for in the proper time, we will reap a harvest. Continue to sow seeds of giving, freely give well and reap fruits of receipts. God bless you.
