Stand for the truth of Christ always!

Written by Christopher Opey Tetteh.

“The messenger who had gone to summon Micaiah said to him, “Look, the other prophets without exception are predicting success for the king. Let your word agree with theirs and speak favorably.” But Micaiah said, “As surely as the LORD lives, I can tell him only what the LORD tells me.” (NIV) 1 Kings 22:13-14

Christianity from the age it was established till now stands tall to many religions. The reason being that Jesus Christ spoke and lived the truth throughout His stay on earth, although it endangered His life.

Speaking the truth sometimes demands boldness and courage from the speaker especially in the midst of opposers of the truth. Peter and John stood before the Sanhedrin at Jerusalem to defend the truth (Acts 4:5-22) though they were asked not to preach. But they took the bull by the horn and stood for the truth of Christ even though it resulted in persecution, punishment, and hatred.

Again, Micaiah the Prophet was asked to speak like his fellow Prophets who were also summoned by Jehoshaphat the King, but he said "As the Lord lives, whatever the Lord says to me, that I will speak"(1 Kings 22:14, NKJV).

Let us be encouraged by the acts of Micaiah, Stephen, Peter, and John and be enriched spiritually to forego the fear, shame, and persecution we will face and go on to speak the truth of Christ regardless. We must preach the truth until the very end.

May God lifts our understanding and empowers us to become defenders and teachers of His Word so we don't compromise the truth for deceitful philosophies of men or for material possessions. Always remember to "buy the truth and sell it not" (Proverbs 23:23).
