Be thankful in all situations

Written by Mantebeah Elizabeth Matilda Abena.

"No matter what happens, always be thankful, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus"(NLT) 1 Thessalonians 5:18

Whenever I take a good look at my life, I wondered how it will be like without God. I find myself in a family where problems keep compounding. I find myself in a stressing relationship and friends seem to be enemies now. In like manner other Christians go through similar situations daily (1 Peter 5:9). Such situations leave many of us in despair. However, the good news is that the testing of our faith produces endurance which leads us unto perfection (James 1:2-3).

I don’t know if you have ever felt like crying in times like these. I have felt like that almost all the time and the truth is I do really weep before my Father. And miraculously, anytime I do, I feel more relieved than I was before. Our God is a prayer answering God. Jesus promised never to leave us as orphans. He has never disappointed us and will continue to be faithful.

That is my hope in Christ Jesus and it should be yours as well no matter what may come our way. Life is full of challenges. Whatever we do, someone may find a problem with us. People will always criticize us no matter how hard we try to please them. I have learnt this the hard way.

Therefore as we aim to be better and efficient Christians, let our focus of praise be to glorify God no matter what it takes. In all things, no matter what comes our way, let us thank God and be assured that as the heavens are higher than the earth so is our God’s way higher and far bigger than ours.

Let’s glorify his name and hold on to his promise which is: He will never leave us as orphans. In all that we do or say, as we go about our daily activities, let our love for God drive us to holding on to whatever may come our way in faith, knowing that God is able to do exceedingly ,abundantly more than we can ever imagine.

To him be the glory now and forever more. Amen.
