For you have been saved by grace, not of works

“You must warn each other every day while it is still today, so that none of you will be deceived by sin and hardened against God. For if we are faithful to the end, trusting God just as firmly as when we first believed, we will share in all that belongs to Christ." (NLT) Hebrews 3:13

When we followed the ways of the world, we became dead in our sins. We lived disobedient lives and we were an eyesore to God. Jesus looked down upon us with mercy and He decided to save us.

Today Jesus’ death has brought salvation to us all. We must therefore reach out to this saving grace through Faith. It is by our Faith in the Gospel: birth, death, burial and resurrection of Christ that salvation is given unto us.

We don’t need to work hard for it. We just need to believe. Believe that someone could love us past our sins and die for us. It isn’t easy to lay down your life for someone you love. I tried loving some people and I am still unable to overlook some minor errors on their part. I believe it might be the same with you.

Although we try as members of a family to equally love each other, we tend to give up on others because they hurt us badly. We are not able to love them perfectly since we know their past but Christ always does a perfect job of forgetting our past and welcomes us wholeheartedly.

In Romans 5:8, the word of God says “but God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners”. It wasn't done when we believed, no!! It was whilst we were still wallowing in our sins. Let us remember, it was God’s love that brought Salvation to us and not our own works or deeds.
