"What do workers gain from their toil? I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live. "(NIV) Ecclesiastes 3:9,12

Let’s bsource:wheelchairjunkie.files.wordpress.comegin by drawing up our to-do list for today. I guess it’s a tall list of items which demand equal high priority. Perhaps there are additional list from the previous day. My guess is that you would wish the day will be more than 24 hours. Well no matter the length of our to-do list, the day still remains 24 hours.

Those were the thoughts I have been brooding and ponder how life was 50 years ago? From history books we will acknowledge that 50 years ago there were no personal computers which make work easier and faster in our generation. 50 years ago there were no mp3 players and smartphones which we are so fond of these days. Over 50 years ago there were no microwaves, bread toasters and all the kitchen stuffs that make work at the kitchen easier and faster. Well, the list goes on and on but the big question is why is time still limited in our generation when we have these entire “super” fast technologies? Do we have to go back to the 50’s?

Beloved, I think the secret is that, 50 years ago there were real families, unity and sense of belonging (1 Corinthians 12:12). These things were more cherished by those living in the 50’s and as a result, made time for them. Now we have mp3, personal computers and smartphones but many are suffering from BOREDOM and DEPRESSION. I am not condemning these important technologies but I want to draw our minds to the fact that they deceive us by letting us feel we are connected and that there is no need for physical interaction. The joy of seeing the other person and physically interacting with him/her is incomparable to that of text messages (Psalm 133:1). It refreshes us, restores happiness and kills any boredom or depression.

Beloved, there will always be work and to-do lists but families and belongings are but for a moment. So the next time you think you have a lot to do and no time for others, remember 50 years ago, they had time for families and friends (Ephesians 4:3).
