In our prayers: Accra - Ghana explosion 2015

Written by Daily Inspirer Team.

“…and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective” (NIV) James 5:16

On June 3, 2015, Ghanaians, (people living in a part of West Africa) experienced the worst disaster in their country. The incident occurred when petrol storage tanks of a petrol filling station in the capital city Accra, exploded due to flooding. The flood water rapidly leaked into the petrol storage tanks and mixed with the fuel, causing the fuel to leak out of the tank into the surroundings and then catching fire to cause the explosion. According to sources, over 150 people were killed and several others wounded. The country is currently mourning for the victims who suffered their untimely death.

In today’s devotional message, the Daily Inspirer Team would want to express their sincere condolences to the families of the deceased and victims who survived. In difficult times like this, one of the greatest supports we can offer as Christians is to console and intercede for the families and victims through fervent prayers and we want to encourage you to join us in this course.

1 Thessalonians 5:11 says; “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing”. There are many of the families who are grieving for their losses and would appreciate some words of encouragement. If you know a Ghanaian or can easily reach one, why not express some words of encouragement to the person.

In case you are a victim or family or loved one of a victim, we would want to encourage you with the following bible verses;

Isaiah 41:10; “so do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Psalm 119:50; Your comfort in your suffering is this: God’s promise preserves your life. [Paraphrased]

Revelation 21:4; God will wipe away every tear from your eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away. [Paraphrased]

Job 1:21; …The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; may the name of the LORD be praised.

Finally, let us remember the families of the victims, the victims who survived as well as the country; Ghana, as a whole in our regular prayers.
