When accused forcefully

Written by Ebenezer Essel.

"Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.” "(NIV) John 18:36

Bible reading: John 18:30-40

We cannot liken our afflictions to what our Lord Jesus went through before his crucifixion but we can gain encouragement from it. Our bible reading (John 18:30-40) narrates the biblical story of our Lord Jesus before Pontius Pilate. He was accused forcefully of incidents and sins he had not ever committed. People spat on him, said all provocative words but he never retaliated. During his trial, Pilate even wondered why Jesus wouldn’t defend him since he (Pilate) knew Jesus was innocent but our Lord uttered these words; “My kingdom is not of this world…”

Perhaps you have been accused forcefully of saying or doing things you have no idea of. Perhaps your good deeds have been translated to be evil and you are now seen to be the bad one. Maybe, you have tried to defend yourself in speech or deeds but they all fell onto deaf ears. Is there more you can do?

Been accused forcefully is one of the act that can “kill” an individual. This is because it arouses an inner self-battle within the individual. Our self-conscience cannot comprehend why we are being treated in a manner we are innocent of and you will bear with me that it really hurts.

Further along we will understand why. There is nothing we can do in our power to remedy the situation than to surrender it to our Lord Jesus. Our kingdom is not of this world, if it were, God would have sent angels to fight for us and prevent us from being accused forcefully. But since we are in this world, lets bear the cross just like our Saviour did because a day will come when the truth will surface and we are going to be crowned with glory and faithfulness.
