Taking up you cross

“Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross daily, and follow me.” (NIV) Luke 9:23

This verse has such great meaning. Jesus words are always so powerful and so challenging! He doesn’t say if you follow me I will make you rich or if you follow me your life will be easy or any other sales pitch that we are used to. Unfortunately, we are selfish people by nature so when Jesus asks us to leave what we want in the dust, it can be so hard to accept and even harder to do.

Why bother doing it you might ask? The reason is that He truly knows the best thing for us. Since I decided to follow Jesus my life has changed a great deal. Some of the things I have had to change weren’t easy and there are still many things that I need to work on but I can honestly say that I trust that His way is best for me even if it’s hard. Living for God gives richness and hope that I could never provide for myself. Hymn O God, You are my God, And I will ever praise You O God, You are my God, And I will ever praise You I will seek You in the morning And I will learn to walk in Your ways And step by step You’ll lead me And I will follow You all of my days. And step by step You’ll lead me And I will follow You all of my days.
