The Great Provider

Written by Alfred Ofori Agyemang.

“In those days, the multitude being very great and having nothing to eat, Jesus called His disciples to Him and said to them, "I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now continued with Me three days and have nothing to eat.” (NIV) Mark 8:1-2

Man is made of the body, soul and spirit but much attention is given to the body and its needs. We live in a world that has set seeking physical properties, positions and pleasure as most critical. Sometimes we forget our ultimate purpose in life and concentrate on minor and temporal issues instead of the permanent and most important. Most of humanity is fighting and dying for the basic needs of survival. We get up from our sleeping places and even forget to appreciate the giver of life and the things we hope to receive.

There is a caring God who created the universe we are living on and responsible for the sustenance of our lives. God has assured us that we should not worry about what to eat and other needs because he is in charge (Matt. 6:25). The most assuring message from God is that he provides for us according to his riches more than what we imagine to have. “My God shall supply all of your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” Jesus will give us our daily bread and provide for us (Phil. 4:19).

Do not be anxious if you have no hope of getting resources (food, accommodation, school fees, clothes and others). Let us believe and trust the provider of all the resources (God) because he doesn’t disappoint. He will show himself when we need him most.

Hymn: Our God, He is alive

There is, beyond the azure blue;

A God, concealed from human sight.

He tinted skies with heav’nly hue

And framed the worlds with His great might.

Chorus

There is a God, He is alive,

In Him we live and we survive;

From dust our God created man,

He is our God, the great I Am.
