The wake up call

Written by Eddy Amihere.

"The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light." (NIV) Romans 13:12

We are all aware of an alarm ringing to wake one up from sleep. Most hotels have a similar service referred to as "wake up call" to wake their guests up at particular times. In Rom. 13:12, a similar wake up call is announced by the Apostle Paul, but this time, it is a call urging us to get up from our spiritual sleep.

Perhaps you think you need one or two more years to gather riches before you get serious about your Christian life. Beloved, it’s not the case. This wake up call is spontaneous and as such needs your immediate attention. Perhaps you think you can have a day off to engage in sin and ask for forgiveness later. Beloved, Paul is requesting a spontaneous WAKE UP so no time to slack.

Beloved, we need to awaken our spiritual being to the fact that we are striving to gain Eternal life. Let us always remember that each day draws us NEARER to the Lord’s second coming than when we first believed (Rom. 13:12). As 1 Thessalonians 5:2 CAUTIONS us; “for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night”, let's wake up from our sleep and prepare daily to meet our Lord.
