The story of each day

“Life is more than food and your body more than clothing” Luke 12:23-NLT

Bible reading: Luke 12:22-34

When worrying or desperate to achieve all goals amidst challenges, we often hear people advice: "one day at a time". The Lord Jesus knew this when He taught on money and possessions in Luke 12:22-34. As a young person, I know how it feels to want something and not have it, for all the many reasons possible (social, economic, political, financial, emotional, and spiritual).

Life is more than food and your body more than clothing (Luke 12:23). These words of Jesus as powerful as they are most of the time escape the mind in our many struggles each day. If only we will give these words a second thought, we will indeed see God’s hand each day. I know that as humans as we are, we would prefer to culminate the days and take only a day in the year to give a rundown of God’s goodness in our lives. But that’s where the problem lies.

God does not deal with time the way we perceive it. 2 Peter 3:8 entreats us not to forget this attribute. He decrees and acts as and when He pleases and in all these, no matter the duration, it is the same for the Lord. When Jesus said not to worry about everyday life – what to eat and what to wear, we Christians need to understand the times of He who spoke to us.

Jesus is God in human form (John 1:14). This is an established fact and we would be damned/doing a disservice to ourselves not to believe it or better said accept it. So whenever we want to consider Jesus’ message on "Life is more than food and your body more than clothing", let us consider it in both times of the each “day”: our definition of day marked by the Sun and Moon God created for us in Genesis 1 and His definition based on who He is in 2 Peter 3.

In this way, we will see how well the Lord has dealt with us on a daily basis per our human calendar as well as according to God’s time. We say God’s time is the best but the issue is every day is God’s time. So instead of waiting for a specific event to thank God, lets develop the sense of God’s time which is no specific day but every day to thank Him.

Let every opportunity whatever the story brings you to your knees to thank God. He’s got your back, don’t ever forget that.
