Taking God personal

Written by Alfred Ofori Agyemang.

“And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” (NKJV) Joshua 24:15

God in his infinite wisdom and power created humans in a unique way. He created all other things necessary for man’s survival before humans were created. Though God has all power, he gave mankind the free will to choose and decide for ourselves in this life with associated consequences. Man has been endowed with the power to reason and do what is rational to us.

Because of the way God created humanity, we all have affections for different things depending on what we want to achieve in life. Just consider how we feel in the presence of our physical partners. We are always happy to hear from them, see them and cry when we are lonely or they disappoint us. We want to be by our partners and share happiness all times. We are willing to sacrifice for people to be happy even though this same people end up disappointing us.

We love and care so much about our family members we pray the bond to be permanent. We show so much concern if we recognize a family member is in need.

When it comes to sports, we wish our teams (clubs and national) well. We are so much attached to the teams that sometimes we cannot even eat when our sporting teams loses. Musicians, sports personalities and other celebrities are mostly chased for autographs and pictures. Some followers cry when they meet their favorite celebrities.

Jehovah is our father who loves us more than the things and individuals we love and care about. How deep do you love the Lord? Are you concerned about God and His church? If we can commit to God the same way we are emotionally attached to our partners, teams, celebrities and businesses, God will surely bless us. Be closer to God and he will be closer to you. Take God personal.
