True Success

Written by Alfred Ofori Agyemang.

“Finally then, brethren, we urge and exhort in the Lord Jesus that you should abound more and more, just as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God;” (NKJV) 1Thess. 4:1

Success in life is seen differently depending on who you are, where you stand and what you are looking for. Many see success as having wealth, good marriage, job, luxury and power. These are good as they make life comfortable and give us prestige in the society, but are they the true definition of success as a Christian?

Though we are different in many aspects of life, God expects us all to succeed in one thing. That is to have a good relationship with God and please him. Physical life is just a means to attain our eternal goals in life and the two entities should have a single focus.

True success in life comes by prayers, planning and preparation. We need to set goals for us to succeed. Apostle Paul had a goal; “one thing I do, forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to the things which are before. I press on toward the goal to the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus” (Phil. 3:13-14). The mark is to please God. Successful people are goal setters. Do you have goals for your spirit concerning eternity? Have a goal of getting to heaven and live faithfully in Christ! You can do it.
