The shinning Stars

Written by Alfred Ofori Agyemang.

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven". (NIV) Matthew 5:14-16

The twentieth century is full of massive competition especially with scientific knowledge and technology. We are in an era of intellectual combat where we are all thinking of creating something new to catch the attention of the world. Individuals, companies and industries are developing flashy items like mobile phones which people of all ages keep yearning for. Modern and flashy televisions, watches, clothes, cars, computers and houses are springing up daily for our consumption. One significant observation with this modern competitive world is that, individuals and institutions always want to bring on board something unique and catchy. Anything flashy or attractive is very easy to promote and is easily accepted by the world.

A star in the sky is so bright and visible that it cannot be hidden. Stars from the galaxies are out in the night and produce light for the world. Watching the stars are so lovely and relieving to stressful souls.

The almighty God in the first century established a faith movement called Christianity (Acts 11:26). The Holy Scriptures, that is the manual of this great faith, call Christians as the light of this world. The light from the skies in the night are from stars so Christians who are the light of this world are also stars.

As stars of this world, Christians should shine and be the center of attraction. This dark world must see and feel the light from Christians. People should be eager to see the light because no one is comfortable in the dark. Unbelievers should be eager to be part of Christianity because of the activities and benefits Christians provide in the world.

How can you be a star and not produce light? How can you be a star and not visible? Stars must shine. If Christians are on fire and shining, the church will glow. You are a star and you can make Christianity attractive. Amen.
