Faithfulness

Written by Alfred Ofori Agyemang.

“But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way” (NIV) Daniel 1:8

Many Christians profess to have faith, but their actions show otherwise. The true Christian faith sincerely demands stewardship to God in all situations.

Let us consider one of the greatest personalities in the Bible, Daniel. He was among the people from Judah who were captured by the Babylonians and taken to a foreign land. The captivity came with a forced change of name which many of us will not be comfortable with. He was offered food and other socio-cultural practices that he deemed contrary to his worship of God. The environment, culture, regulations and virtually everything were against his beliefs. But Daniel purposed and committed in his heart not to defile himself (Dan. 1:8). God used the faithfulness of Daniel to set him up for success. The faith of Daniel in God accompanied by his humility and the commitment to serve led to Him being exalted in the Babylonian kingdom.

We can learn a lot from Daniel. Let’s not profess to be Christians only when life is comfortable or amid people we know. Our faithfulness must be seen wherever we are and in whatever situation we are in, whether comfortable or not.

The New Year comes with many great opportunities and challenges not known to any man. Are you ready to remain faithful to God and His Kingdom at all times? Our God rewards His faithful servants and He will surely reward you like Daniel if we remain faithful to Him always.
