The wise will take this to heart!

Written by Mantebeah Elizabeth Matilda Abena.

"Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever. "(NLT) Psalm 107:1

"Those who are wise will take this to heart; they will see in our history the faithful love of the Lord."(NLT) Psalm 107:43

The last month of the year is one that we all look forward to for many reasons. Christians and non-Christians alike! For us believers; although it shouldn’t be the norm, we tend to relegate this month to the time when we count our blessings. It is the time we take to weigh the love of God as if that is what God requires of us. This expectation can be a burden when one looks at his or her life and sees from a human perspective a total blank slate. Basically, nothing to write home about!

Fortunately for us, today God is calling us back to himself reminding us of the things that matter to him. And which he desires we take to heart. He is calling us to his soft spot – Gratitude at all times! Gratitude in every situation!

Gratitude is simply a grateful attitude. That is a way of life or behavior that is full of thanks. Thanks for whatever may be on your slate today. What is it that you have in your hands now that you can beat your chest saying, had it not been for the Lord?

That is what matters to God today. That is what makes him God; whatever it is you can see him in or not see him in.

When we read Psalm 37:4, it says

“Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart's desires”.

What does it mean to delight in the Lord? It is simply acknowledging him in every situation. Whether your cup is half filled or half empty; completely filled or not; whether you even possess a cup to take the water or not; better still whether you even get water to drink or not with the cup or ever gets thirsty itself. God is asking you to see him in all these things; because whichever yours’ is will work out for your own good; i.e. in providing you with your heart desires.

Beloved God is good. Whether you have seen it or not this year is not an issue. I want to take this opportunity to encourage you to simply believe that no matter what you may be going through. He is a faithful God. I have been there with a blank year at hand and I dared believe He is still good. I write with a heart filled with gratitude for His goodness; for Psalm 107 has been my story and God’s love saw me through. May you be wise to take this to heart! Amen.
