From problems to praises

"Early the next morning Jacob took the stone he had placed under his head and set it up as a pillar and poured oil on top of it. " (NIV) Genesis 28:18

Bible Reading: Genesis 28

God has been communicating to mankind from creation till now. Some of the ways or medium through which God communicates with man may be enjoyable while sometimes the medium will be inconvenient to man. Whether we see it or not, divine communication happens daily in the life of humanity. In our daily lives, divine messages are transmitted to us in many ways. Some of these messages we are able to identify and some are totally missed.

Whatever we see in this life and how we see it depends on two things: what we are looking for and where we stand. Most people who serve God want to praise Jehovah under comfortable situations. Whenever difficult times show up, we see it as a bad message not coming from God. We keep hoping and praying for a change in our status in ways that pleases us before we praise God.

Jacob was in great distress and had to run away from his home to a faraway place. He had deceived his father and also cheated his brother of his blessings. Jacob had to survive all alone in the plain to the extent of using stone a pillow. Because Jacob had a mentality to seek God no matter his challenges, he perceived God. “When Jacob awoke from his sleep, he thought, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I was not aware of it” (Genesis 28:16). Most of us fail to see God in the midst of our adversities. Prepare yourself to see God and you will find Him in circumstances you least expected.

“Early the next morning Jacob took the stone he had placed under his head and set it up as a pillar and poured oil on top of it.” (Genesis 28:18). Jacob found joy in using the same stone (problem) as pillar to worship and praise God. He turned the stone of pillow into a stone of pillar of praise. Beloved, this is a great example we can emulate. I would encourage you to always praise God in both favorable and terrible situations.

Turn all your problems into praises and experience new outcomes as it happened to Jacob. Amen.
