It was Your Gift and Still is Your Gift (II)

Written by Philip Addo Bempong.

“Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus” (NKJV) Philippians 3:13-14.

In today's Christianity, many brags of the tremendous and massive work done by their parents who were or are elders, deacons, preachers, Bible teachers and church leaders and so on, while others brag of their past glory and success in the Church. This boastful nature makes them reluctant and gives them the gratification that they have done more than enough for the Lord. However, what these people have forgotten is that doing good works is a Christian gift that must be constantly exhibited until one is called to eternity.

Paul had done a lot of good works with his gift as at the time he was writing to the Philippians but yet he didn't boast of it (Philippians 3:4-7, Galatians 1:13-14). He had placed that behind him and continued to do more with his God-given gift.

Keep on working for the Lord, brethren. Rest not on your parents’ achievements or your own past success and glory so that you will be counted as a wealthy servant of the Master every now and then. Stay blessed!
