Who is God to you?

Written by Nana Kwame and Alesia Owusu-Afriyie.

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts." (NKJV) Isaiah 55:8-9

In A.W. Tozer’s book "The Knowledge of the Holy,” he wrote, “The low view of God entertained almost universally among Christians is the cause of a hundred lesser evils among us." The gravest threat facing Christians today is probably their low view of God. Most Christians, unfortunately, do not know experientially who God is. Their knowledge of God is what they have heard from others, but they do not have an intimate knowledge of God themselves.

The tragedy of not knowing who God intimately is what makes a lot of Christians ask the question, “Why do bad things happen to good people?” In Psalm 73:16-17, Asaph identified the plans of God for his children. He came to understand that the knowledge of the Holy One is what matters most and not the things that happen to us. If we indeed know who God is and his plans for our lives, we will “Not fret because of evildoers, nor be envious of the workers of iniquity” (Psalm 37:1, NKJV). We will rather do these three things

First, “Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness (Psalm 37:3, NKJV). Second, “Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart” (Psalm 37:4, NKJV) and lastly, “Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass” (Psalm 37:5, NKJV).

Let us always remember that “The most important thing you think is what you think about God” (A.W. Tozer). Every other thought is less in comparison to this thought. As long as we think about the source, the resources will be abundantly provided for us. Amen!
