It's not all about money

Written by Alhassan Mohammed Sandargo.

“You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people.” (NLT) Genesis 50:20

Bible reading: Genesis 37

Joseph was to have a great future but when his dream was gladly shared with his brothers, they hated him for it. After getting Joseph trapped in a dry well, they thought it prudent to sell the boy for some money, rather than killing him without any benefit, and they did. (Genesis 37:18-28)

The table turned, and Joseph became second in command in Egypt with many lives (including his brothers’ and the entire family) depending on him. Joseph refused money from them by secretly putting it back into their grains, as if to tell them, “Guys, we are brothers, ok? And it’s not all about money”. (Genesis 42:25)

In the end, Joseph wept, revealed himself to his brothers, encouraged them, forgave them, spoke, kissed, hugged, dinned, and spent quality time together: a beautiful expression of love. (Genesis 43:16; 45:15)

When good relationships are ill-treated it comes at high price and yet many people have placed their relationships at the bottom of their priority list. Those who adhere to principles of good relationships are greatly rewarded.

Blessed indeed, is anyone who loves the Lord with all his entire being, loves his neighbor, and prudently places money where it belongs, for it’s not all about money.
