In Christ alone is salvation

Written by Mantebeah Elizabeth Matilda Abena.

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.” (NIV) Ephesians 1:3-4

Is it true that we can be saved by following any prophet? Well, after a careful study of the above text, we can conclude that there is no other name on earth or in heaven by which we can be saved except the name of Christ. God’s plan for our salvation was premeditated in Christ and by this everything that God has given to humankind; He did it through Christ and for Christ. So for all that it is worth, whatever it is you find yourself doing or whoever you are following, ask yourself this question; will I find salvation in what I am doing or the person I am following?

If you have not repented of your sins and offered yourself up for baptism into Christ, I am afraid the answer will be NO! Similarly, if you are a Christian who is not following Biblical principles of righteous living and rightful way of worship, then the same answer will apply to you. Beloved, let’s constantly remind ourselves of what is written in Ephesians 1:19-22; God’s powerful plan is made know to us about Christ.

"…That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church"

This means that whatever it is that we seek as individuals, it is through Christ because everything has been placed under his feet. They all belong to him. And as Christians, the most important thing for us is eternal life. This life, God is assuring us can only be found in Christ. The Bible affirms in Romans 8:1 that there is no condemnation for those who are IN CHRIST JESUS. This sums up our search and answers our question; can we be saved by following any prophet? The answer is; salvation is in no man but Christ (Hebrews 2: 10).

It is time we turn from all idol worshiping or any human institution imposed on us from our childhood and search for the only way through which we can be saved (Christ- way, truth and life). If you happen to be in Christ already, then let us not so be entangled by the pleasures of this world so as to forget how good God’s love is (Hebrews 6:4-6). Instead, lets us hold on forth until the end (1 Timothy 6:12-16).
