"“God is our refuge and strength …Let the oceans roar and foam. Let the mountains tremble as the waters surge! …God dwells in that city; it cannot be destroyed …Be still, and know that I am God! …I will be honoured throughout the world”.(NLT) Psalm 46

Introduction: God dwells in that city (I)

God is in that city and you are its light in Christ Jesus. Jesus is in that storm with you. As a result, you shall not be destroyed. God dwells with you in trouble, shame, discouragement, confusion, hopelessness, unfaithfulness, financial crisis, joblessness, barrenness, etc. so let the mountains tremble as the waters surge! Let the arrows of the world be thrown at you from all angles, God is with you and you shall not be destroyed. Rise up and let your light shine.

This message should build our conviction. It should build our hope in the Lord; it should strengthen us to put on our shield of faith and breastplate of righteousness. Job knew this and refused to curse God and die. Joseph knew this and refused to sin against God by lying with Portiphar’s wife. Moses knew this and chose God’s people over nobility in Egypt. Shadrack, Meshack, Abednego knew this and refused to bow down to worship an image.

Daniel knew this and still called on God when told not to. Abraham knew this and still agreed to leave his family. Isaac knew this and still planted on that famine ridden land. Ruth knew this and never left the side of Naomi in her darkest and bitter moments. Esther knew this and still went to the king even if it would cost her life. Paul knew this and embraced his chains. The list is unending.

God is in that city of yours. Never forget that in good or bad. In season and out of season, God has got your back, you shall not be destroyed. Be still, and know that He is God! He will be honoured throughout your life and it shall end in glory. Amen!
