School of Life

Written by Alfred Ofori Agyemang.

"It is written in the Prophets: ‘They will be taught by God.’ Everyone who listens to the Father and learns from him comes to me." (NIV) John 6:45

“Education is the key” is one of the most popular sayings in the world now. Everybody is trying so hard to get a certificate for their education. What about the heavenly certificate of eternal life? Brethren, life on earth is a compulsory universal school we are all attending. We were admitted into the school by the creator of life (God) the day we were born. Because we started at different periods and we are assigned different projects, we are never expected to complete the school of life the same day or hour.

There is no holiday or break until the headmaster (God) exits you. We are all supposed to achieve a single purpose at the end of the program. The head of the school have given us different project and methods to achieve same goal of pleasing him. There are daily tests (trials, temptations and challenges) we are to undertake to move through the levels of life. There are promotions and demotions during the school period and it mostly depends on our output and progress. As some see academic learning as punishment others see it as fun, so is life.

We have major courses as well as minor courses in the school of life. Co-curricular activities are also available and very attractive. Unfortunately, many people major in minor courses. Others are so deep with the exciting co-curricular activities like work, marriage and entertainment that they forget their main purpose.

Fortunately for all humans or students of life, the syllabus, examination and the marking scheme (i.e. the Holy Bible) have been given out to all who wants to know. The teacher is a generous person called Christ with the Holy Spirit as the teaching assistant. One day all who have been born will take a single examination called Judgment. Nothing (e.g. medical report) can be produced to seek excuse on the exams day. The pass mark to this exam is to believe and follow the teacher who will also be the examiner. Next level after this school of life is either to graduate into eternal joy or to fail and fall in perpetual punishment. As you read this, you are already enrolled in this school, how well are you taking your lessons to pass out successfully? Wishing all of us the best as we journey through this school of life. Amen
