Integrity

Written by Alfred Ofori Agyemang.

“The man of integrity walks securely, but he who takes crooked paths will be found out" (NIV) Proverbs 10:9

The modern world has seen the best of everything physically through education. There is advancement in infrastructure, transport, communications, entertainment and much more. All other things are improving except man’s attitude to life and God. Integrity is now a very scarce commodity.

Integrity is the foundation of human dignity and that distinguishes humans from other creatures. God created humans in his own image of integrity. Integrity is disciplining oneself to do be honest under all circumstances. Your life must be consistent with the highest values that you espouse. Integrity is the quality that locks in your values and causes you to live consistent with them. Living consistently with the highest biblical values and virtues is really living a life of integrity. And when you commit to living this kind of life, you continually raise your own standards (spiritually and physically), refine your life and keep that fellowship with God.

Guard your integrity as a sacred thing because once you let it go, you will hardly recover. Life is lived from the inside out. What is in you determines your behaviour. Your values determine the kind of person you really are. At the very core of your personality lie your values about yourself and life in general. Feed on God’s word to achieve a life of integrity. What you believe has defined your character and your personality. It is what you stand for and what you won’t stand for, that tells you and the world the kind of person you have become.

Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life (Proverbs 4:23). Integrity is the number one capital we have and this leads to quality leadership and success in all aspects of life (spiritual, family, business, education etc). Integrity in leadership is expressed in terms of constancy and consistency in behaviour. It is manifested in an absolute devotion to keeping one’s word. Your integrity precedes you and affects all of your interactions with other people. Living with integrity brings joy to yourself, family, friends and ultimately to God. Live to uphold the image of God in You. Amen.
