“Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding. Esteem her and she will honour you.” (NIV) Proverbs 4: 7-8

People often have the perception that formal education is everything that matters and this is because the world has made it so. We spend countless hours and days studying books that are written by men for exams in order to be awarded earthly and physical degrees; degrees that fade away and lose their value with time. This is not to say we need not to be educated because without education we can't be reading this in the first place. However, in our quest to attain greater heights and satisfy our ambitions, we tend to forgot God. In fact, we forget that our Christian life is also a learning process and each day God expects us to pass the tests of time and challenges that come our way as our exams to qualify us for an everlasting degree of glory after death.

Our only text book is the Bible, which God provided after long years of compilations to help us succeed in this world. But what do we see? We have occupied ourselves with things of this world that are temporary and have deserted God’s Word. Remember, the wisdom of God is the Word of God and Christ is that Word (John 1:1,14). All the temporary things in this world in which we have placed our trust have failed us in one way or the other: friends, family, work etc. It is therefore important that we rely on God’s Word to succeed. We must give the Word the deserved attention and importance in our lives and we will eat of its fruit. Joseph is a typical example of a man who relied totally on the wisdom of God and he was exalted from a prisoner to a prime minister overnight (Genesis 40). What can’t God's wisdom do for you?
